Week 10 Update

Room 1 Assembly

Wow! If you witnessed our Room 1 assembly this week you would certainly have been impressed. Our Yr 6 students (with a couple of year 5’s) did an amazing job connecting their learning into their performance. They showcased both their art, music and technology skills as they informed the audience of their Asian studies this term. I was particularly impressed with their Auslan skills, as they signed the words to our welcome song. Great work Miss Vince and Room 1 students.

Congratulations to our honour certificate winners who were also recognised for their demonstration of our school values. The full list is below.

Attendance Reward

This week we held our Term 3 attendance reward, were all students who had attendance at school and on time of over 95% for the term were rewarded with a pizza lunch. The fact that we had to order 60 pizzas shows how many students have excellent attendance was very positive. Well done. As I have mentioned before, for students to achieve their full academic potential it is essential that they arrive at school on time and regularly for this to occur. We have recently updated our school attendance policy and I would encourage all families to read through this document that is available on our school web page.

Yr 6 Camp Fundraising

Over the last couple of weeks the Year 5 students have begun fundraising for their Yr 6 camp, the two fundraising activities have been the raffle of a fully signed Eagles jumper and a footy colors day today. Well done to all students who wore their team colours today, together we raised over $150. Congratulations to Oscar from Room 10 who was the lucky winner of the signed Eagles jumper.

P&C Update

Throughout Term 3 our P&C have been very active fundraising and coordinating events. The next big event for the P&C will be the food share activity on Thursday 4th November. Please follow the link below to see how our P&C has been supporting our school. https://www.dianellapc.wa.edu.au/thank-you

Noongar Language Sessions

Did you know that our talented Mr Boundry is teaching our Yr 3 students Noongar? Each week the Yr 3 students have a language session, were they are learning phrases, words and culture of the local Aboriginal people. This week the students have been learning about the life cycle of the frog, they learnt the Noongar for each stage and then created dioramas to demonstrate their learning. Well done Yr 3’s, very impressive work. If you are watching the AFL Grand Final tomorrow, make sure you keep an eye out for Mr Boundry who will be a part of the Welcome to Country performance.

Staffing Changes

For the start of term 4 we will have a number of changes to our classroom teachers. Mr Mansfield will be leaving us for a full time position outside of teaching and we wish him all the best for his new role. Ms Jo Turner will be taking over in Room 15 on Thursday’s and Friday’s.

Mrs Burke will also be leaving us for the time being. Mrs Burke, as you may know is expecting her new child to arrive just after the school holidays and we wish here all the best for her expanding family.
