Week 2 Update

Dear Parents and Carers

It has certainly been an interesting and at times challenging start to the school year. I would like to thank all of our parents and carers for their understanding in our sudden and seemingly ongoing changes to our school routines.

As a school we are implementing strategies to meet department requirements around keeping our school Covid safe and I will continue to inform the school community of any changes as we are required to implement them.

Assembly

Last Wednesday, we held our first whole school assembly for the year. It wasn’t a normal assembly, with students staying in their classrooms and completing the assembly via the PA system and interactive whiteboards. Although there were a few teething issues, it was good to see students participating in a regular school program. For the foreseeable future, we will continue to hold our assemblies in this way. Well done to our Honour Certificate winners, please see the full list below.

Aussie of the Month

This year we will continue to participate in the Aussie of the Month program. This is an opportunity for one of our students to be recognised for going above and beyond in their demonstrating of our school values. Well done to Laura, who was nominated by Ms Lopoz for demonstrating our school value of Harmony. Laura went out of her way to ensure that one of our new students to the school felt welcomed into Dianella Primary. Well done Laura.

Swimming

This Term, students in our IEC program have been lucky enough to be be participating in swimming lessons conducted by the Royal Life Saving Society. Twice per week the students head over to the Secondary School and utilise the pool to improve both their confidence and capabilities in the water. This is a great opportunity for our students to receive some extra lessons in the water. Thanks to Royal Life Saving for providing the lessons free of charge and the Secondary School for allowing us to use their facilities.

Activity Groups

During Term 1, all of our senior students, Yr 3-6, have the opportunity to participate in Activity Groups. Activity Groups are held each Friday afternoon and provide students with an opportunity to participate in a activity that they wouldn’t normally get a chance to do at school. Some of the activities this term include Badminton, Sewing, Jewelry Making, Drama, Cooking and even our own Dianella PC Amazing Race. Make sure you chat to your child to find out hat activity they chose, I know all of the students had a great time.

Parent Survey

Biannually, we survey our school community to see how we are going as a school, what we are doing well and if there are any areas that we could improve on as a school. I would ask that all parents please take the time to provide us with feedback so that we can continue to meet the needs of our students and the expectations of the school community. The survey is completely anonymous and can be completed online by following the link below. Alternatively, if you would prefer a hard copy of the survey, please collect one from the front office. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback, it is certainly appreciated.
