Week 2 Update

Parents and Citizens Meeting & Help Wanted

On Monday 2 May we held our Annual General Meeting of the school Parents and Citizens Committee. At the AGM, all of our executive committee positions were vacated and we elected a new committee.

I would like to thank and acknowledge our outgoing committee for all of their hard work and dedication to supporting our school over the last year. The P&C has coordinated some outstanding events for our school community, these included our very successful Outdoor Movie Night, Harmony Week Food Festival and cooking competition, Faction Carnival stall, free dress days and also contributed significantly to our Dance Till You Drop program. A massive thank you to our outgoing committee members;
Melissa - President, Maxine - Vice President, Sana - Secretary, Sasha - Assistant Secretary, Rose and Shelley - Treasurers, Maryann and Irene - Executive Members.

I would like to welcome our new Executive Committee;

Alex-Ann - Vice President. Sasha - Secretary, Sana - Assistant Secretary, Treasurer - Maxine, Assistant Treasurer - Shelly, Executive Committee - Ellane, Vikram, Pari, Irene and Melissa.

At this stage the position of President has not been filled and we are still in need of someone to volunteer for the role. The school P&C is an essential part of the school and is a great opportunity for parents to participate in the school and support their child/ren. If you are interested in the role or know of someone who may be, please feel free to either contact Melissa (outgoing president) pcdianella@gmail.com or myself to find out further details about the position. There is an amazing support team to the president.

School Assembly

With the easing of Covid restrictions, last Wednesday we were able to return to our whole school assemblies. This was the first time all year that we have met together as a whole school, and was very pleasing to see all of our students in one place and returning to normal. The assembly was the first chance for our student leaders to demonstrate their leadership skills, and they did a great job running the assembly. Well done student councillors. Well done to all of our Honour Certificate winners who have been recognised for their ongoing display of our school values. Please see the full list of students below.

Aussie of The Month

During the assembly we were also able to recognise our two recent Aussie of the Month award winners. Well done to Griffin, who was nominated by Mrs Davey as the Aussie of the Month for April for his ongoing commitment to supporting his peers during the before school guitar lessons, Well done Griffin. Congratulations to Hanine who was nominated by our school chaplain, Izzy, as the Aussie of the Month for May. Hanine consistently displays positives manners and this was recognised and commented on by multiple staff members who have interacted with Hanine at breakfast club and around the school. Well done Hanine.

Interschool Sport

Last Friday we had our first Interschool Sports game for the past two years. Students have been keenly looking forward to this day and teams of students from Yr 4-6 represented DPC in netball, soccer and AFL. The students did a fantastic job and certainly enjoyed the experience. Well done to our Netball A team , who won 9-2, with Uniquah the player of the day, Netball B were also successful 16-2, with Angel being named player of the day, our soccer team won 5 goals to nil, with Imran being named player of the match. Our AFL team were very close to winning, going down by one goal just before the final siren, Denver was our payer of the match. Our next Interschool game will be this week against Westminster Primary School.

Adult Bikes

The school has been given a number of bikes that we are unable to use. Although the bikes were donated specifically for students, they are more suitable for adults, due to their size and weight. Each bike has a helmet and bike lock. Any parents that would like a bike (see picture below) please contact me through the school office and we can organise a time for you to pick one up.
