Week 2 Update

Covid 19

As you will be aware, we will continue to have some restrictions placed upon schools next week due to the recent Covid outbreak. Parents, when entering classrooms next week, will be required to wear a face mask, as will teachers when not directly teaching. We are also asking that parents continue to practice social distancing when waiting for their children at the end of the day and if this is not possible, to wear a mask.

ANZAC Ceremony

On Tuesday we held our scaled back ANZAC Ceremony. Due to Covid we had to cancel our precinct assembly and were unfortunately not able to have parents or representatives from the Nollmara RSL attend. Despite this, the school leadership team conducted our ceremony with respect and confidence, reminding students about the significance of the day. Our school choir also did a splendid job presenting the song Whispers in the Trees. Well done students

Art Display

If you get a chance, pop into the front office to have a look at our very impressive student art work displays. Under Mrs Mitchell’s guidance in art classes, our students have produced some very impressive water colour paintings and impressionist art pieces. They look fantastic and have certainly brightened up the front office area.

Inter school

Today we had our first inter school game against students from Nollamara Primary School. Our students participated in games of netball, soccer and football. With all teams having a win, well done to all of our players.

Assembly

Well done to Room 16 who ran this weeks assembly. The IEC students from year 2/3 did a fantastic job reminding the students about the importance of healthy eating and what bodies require to be healthy. The students clearly demonstrated their improving English skills through their confident public speaking, well done Mrs Djukanovic and room 16. Congratulations to our Honour Certificate winners, listed below, who have been recognised for their efforts in demonstrating our school values.

P&C Meeting

Reminder to all parents that our next P&C meeting will be held on Wednesday 5 May from 1.30 pm in The Hive, all parents are welcome to attend. One of our major P&C activities for the year will be our Multicultural lunch, at the meeting we will be setting the date for this as well as determining what parental support will be required. It would be great to have a variety of parents supporting this event.

Mirrabooka Fresh

I would like to thank and acknowledge Mirrabooka Fresh who have continued to supply the school with a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables for our students to enjoy. Thank you Mirrabooka Fresh, this is certainly appreciated and as I have said before it would be great for our families to support the businesses that support our school.

Mothers Day Stall

Next Friday, 7 May, students from the Dianella Education Support Centre will be holding a mothers day stall in our school hall. Mother’s day items will be on sale priced between $1 - $10 and students will be given the opportunity to visit the stall to purchase something for their mum or female carer in their life.
