Week 2 Update

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to all of our students and families for the start of Term 3. We have also had a number of new students start with us this term and I would like to to also welcome our new students and families to Dianella Primary College. As is always the case, we have a very busy term ahead of us.

School Review

This week, as a school we have participated in our Independent Public School Review. A representative from the school review team, Mrs Maxine Augustson and a principal peer, Mr Andrew Gorton came out to the school to review our whole school processes. The team met with representatives from across the school to look at the six school domains, being Relationships and Partnerships, Learning Environment, Leadership, Use of Resources, Teaching Quality and Student Achievement and Progress. The school review process is a great opportunity for us as a school to reflect on how we are going in each of these areas, celebrate our successes and to also look at ways that we can improve. The review team will provide a written report to the school on their findings, commendations and recommendations in the coming weeks. This report will be made available to the whole school community and I will notify parents when it is available. I would like to thank our parent and student representatives that came in and met with the reviewers.

Assembly

Congratulations to all of our students who received Honour Certificates at this weeks student councillor assembly, please see full list below. I would also like to recognise our four students who received Aussie of the Month awards for their contribution to the school review process. Well done to Anastasia, Bahar, Choeyang and Shauzaf for demonstrating responsibility and confidence while providing a tour of the school to our school reviewers. Well done!

P&C Meeting

On Tuesday 2 August we will be holding our next Parents and Citizens meeting. The P&C Committee have a number of activities planned for this term and would love some additional support. As a school we also have an opportunity to apply for a school sustainability grant, if any parents have any ideas on how we could become more environmentally friendly and reduce our contribution to land fill, we would love to hear from you.  The P&C Meeting will be held from 9am next Tuesday 2 August in the Hive.

Athletics Carnival

Ms Farmer and our students have been busy practicing and getting ready for our upcoming school athletics carnival. Due to swimming lessons starting in Week 7, we have had to move our athletics carnival to Week 6, Friday 26 August. Looking forward to seeing as many parents and family members as possible on the day.
