Week 4 Update

Year 6 Camp

46 very excited Year 6 students headed off on school camp this morning - where they will spend the next Three days at The Swan Valley Adventure Centre participating in a number of different activities. The camp is a great opportunity for the students to develop their independence and to build their confidence completing different challenges and activities. Look forward to hearing all about the camp on Friday when they return. Big thank you to our three teachers who went along, Ms Coppins, Miss Oliver and Mrs Goodall, thank you for giving up your own family time to provide this opportunity.

Assembly

In the absence of our Year 6 students, our Year 5 students took over the hosting of todays assembly. I must admit, I was very impressed with their confidence and leadership. There was a number of students who certainly shone brightly in the role and the choice for our student leaders for 2023 will certainly be well contested. Congratulations to all of our Honour Certificate winners, see full list of students below.

Aussie Of The Month

Well done to Chelsea and Rayan who were nominated by Mrs Callus to be our August Aussies of the Month. Chelsea and Rayan have both demonstrated compassion and kindness by ensuring their classmates are feeling supported if they are a little sad. Well done Chelsea and Rayan!

National Principals Day

Last Friday, 5 August was National Principals day and I was provided with a very nice surprise, a portrait from each of the students in the school! We have some amazing artists and they certainly did a fantastic job capturing my best side - thankfully they didn’t add too many grey hairs! Some of the portraits will be on display in the front office (not enough space for all of them!). Thank you to all of the students who took the time to draw me, I certainly felt appreciated!

Music Viva Performance

Last week students were provided with the opportunity to attend the Music Viva performance. This was an amazing opportunity for our students to be exposed to classical music, performed through a play. Our students certainly enjoyed the performance, big thank you to Ms Scott for organising this free incursion for all of our students.

Swimming

Our in-term swimming program will commence in week 7, 29 August. Your child’s individual swimming form will be sent home tomorrow. On the form parents will be asked to provide permission to attend and to record what stage your child has completed. Parents that have already paid for the swimming lessons, will still be required to complete this form. The full cost of the 10 swimming sessions is $55. Swimming is an essential life skill and it is expected that all students will participate in the lessons. Any parents that require additional time to pay for the lessons are asked to contact the front office to organise a payment plan.

Sports Carnival

As mentioned last week, our Faction Athletics Carnival is fast approaching. Weather permitting, our carnival will be held on Friday 26 August. We would love to see as many parents and family members as possible attending on the day.

P&C Committee

Our hard working P&C Committee will be holding a stall at our upcoming Faction Athletics Carnival and will be looking for donations of food items that can be sold. So if you are great at making biscuits, slices or cakes we would love your support. Any extra assistance on the day helping to sell the items would certainly be appreciated as well.

Free RAT Tests

As a strategy in supporting COVID-19 safe practices in our schools, the Department is providing an additional allocation of rapid antigen tests (RATs) to all schools in Western Australia for distribution to students and families. 20 RAT tests per student will be available for collection tomorrow morning, Thursday 11 Aug from in front of the staffroom. Please note, only parents/carers are able to collect the free RAT test. If you are unable to collect the RAST’s then, they may be collected from the front office.

Kind Regards
