Week 3 Update

Rm 14 Assembly

Well done to Room 14 who ran this weeks assembly. As a part of their HASS curriculum, the students have been looking at different nations around the region. With some help from Ms Carmine, who has New Zealand heritage, the students performed a number of traditional Maori dances. Their coordination and group work was outstanding, with the class presenting the dances in unity. Well done Room 15. Congratulations also goes to our hard working students who were recognised with an Honour Certificate this week, see the full list below.

Food Festival

This coming Thursday, 4 November the P&C will be holding our second annual Food Festival. On the day we are asking parents to bring a plate of food from their cultural background to share with the school community. Food items can be delivered from 8.30am to the Hive (back of the Hall) and parents are invited to join their child/ren for a picnic lunch from 12 pm. From 1 pm we will then be holding a Master Chef competition. Last years event was a huge success and we are hoping for an even bigger turn out this year, looking forward to seeing as many families as possible on the day. Please see full details on the P&C web page.

Activity Groups

Each Friday, the Year 3-6 students have been participating in activity groups. The activity groups are an opportunity for the students to participate in an activity that they wouldn’t normally get a chance to do. Have a look at the photos below of some of the different activities the students are participating in, they are certainly enjoying the experiences.

NAIDOC Celebration

Next Friday, 5 November we will be holding our NAIDOC day celebrations, to recognise and celebrate the contribution of Aboriginal people to our amazing country. This years theme for NAIDOC, is Heal Country. As a precinct we will be participating in a number of different activities throughout the day, with the main event being a whole precinct (Dianella Primary College, Secondary College and Education Support Centre) assembly starting at 9 am. Parents and community are welcome to come along and join us on the day, with the assembly taking place on the grassed quadrangle area at the secondary college.

World Teachers Day

Today, October 29 is World Teachers Day and it is an opportunity to thank teachers for all of the hard work they do supporting our students. Teachers (with support from parents and carers) have ensured education continued across the country this year, despite major challenges. It’s reinforced the significant role teachers play in the lives of children and students, their families, and communities. Thank you to all of our wonderful teachers, you certainly deserve recognition for your diligence.
