Week 6 Update

Disco

Thank you to all of our students, parents and teachers who attended last night’s school disco., It was a huge success with over 80 students attending each disco. Thanks to our Yr 6 teachers and Yr 6 students for organisation and running a terrific event. Collectively the students have raised over $800 for their school camp. Special thanks to our school P&C committee who kindly organised the music.

Assembly

Well done to Room 2 who presented a very informative and highly engaging assembly this week. The students have been looking at the importance of bees and how they contribute to our ongoing daily lives. The students certainly spoke and presented with confidence and a high level of theatrical talent, well done, it was a very enjoyable performance. Well done to all of our honour certificate winners who are listed below. These students continue to demonstrate our school values and should be very proud of their efforts.

Reconciliation Week

This week across the school we have been acknowledging both Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week. Sorry Day, commemorated on the 26 May each year represents an opportunity for all Australians to raise awareness of the history of and impact of forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from their families, communities and culture. It is an opportunity to reflect on past injustices and to ensure that this never happens again. Reconciliation Week is an opportunity to celebrate and build upon the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all other Australians. Reconciliation is more than a word and it takes action from all.

Connect

Last week you would have received a letter advising you about our school moving towards using Connect as an online communication tool. Connect is an Education Department supported online tool that will give you access to important communication and keep you informed about what your child is doing in class.

It will also provide an opportunity for communication and to continue learning in case we are forced to return to an online environment in the future.

If you have supplied the school with your email address, you will have now received an email asking you to log on and Connect. If you did not receive this communication please email us at dianellapc@education.wa.edu.au with your child's name in the subject area. We will then be able to update our records to include your new email address for Connect notifications.

Connect is an effective and easy way to stay in touch with the goings on in your child’s class and do ask that all parents take the time to initially provide your current email address and then do log on and register.

School Development Day

Reminder to all of our families that our Term 2 school development day will be on Friday 4 June. This is an opportunity for staff to get together with colleagues from surrounding school for professional development. Students do not attend school on this day and will return to school on Tuesday 8 June, after the WA Day public holiday.
