Week 7 Update

West Oz Wildlife Incursion

This week students from PP and Kindy were lucky enough to have some special visitors from the West Oz Wildlife Park. Our students got the opportunity to learn about and get up close to koalas, a dingo, lizards and even some snakes. It was great to see the kids overcoming their initial concerns and handling the animals. I think some of the students (and some teachers) may now be on the lookout for a dingo as a pet.

State Government Support

Recently we have received some additional funding from our local MLA, Ms Amber-Jade Sanderson and we would like to acknowledge and thank her for her ongoing support of Dianella Primary College. Through the state government election promise, Amber-Jade has provided the school with $30,000, that is going to be used to upgrade the playground in our junior primary area. This is very exciting for our pre-primary students, as it will be great to have some new equipment and challenging obstacles in the area.

P&C Meeting

Our next school P&C meeting will be held on Wednesday 9 June at 1.30 pm in the school hall. It would be great to see as many parents as possible at the meeting as we will be finalising preparations for our upcoming whole school lunch, to be held on Thursday 1 July. This is shaping up to be a great activity, with a number of different activities being planned for the day. If you are able to come along and help support the day, your support would be very much appreciated.

Read-a-thon

Have you been reading lots of books at home with your child? Our school Read-a-thon is coming to a close and we ask that all sponsorship forms and money is returned to school by Tuesday 8 June. There is five great prizes up for grabs for students who have shown an improved effort with their reading\. The P&C will be awarding these prizes at our next school assembly, Wed 9 June, for students to be eligible for a prize they need to have returned the form. Please remember, prizes will be awarded for effort, not the amount of money raised.

Dianella Diamonds

The excitement is certainly building in the music room, with preparations and practices currently taking place for our whole school talent show, Dianella Diamonds. All student from PP - Yr 6 are provided the opportunity to try out for the performance, with our most talented performers presenting their act to our whole school on Tuesday 22 June. Mrs Davey has certainly been working hard with the students and we look forward to seeing our talented students sparkle on the day.

AFL Dream Time Game

If you are interested in AFL football and you are watching the Dream Time Game between Essendon and Richmond on Saturday night, keep an eye out for our school AIEO, Mr Jayden Boundry, who will be part of the pre-game entertainment. Jayden will be performing as part of a group, presenting a traditional Aboriginal dance to start the game. This is a great opportunity for Jayden to demonstrate his passion for and showcase his culture to a huge national audience. We wish Jayden all the best for his performance, no doubt it will be muditj!

School Development Day

Reminder that tomorrow, Friday 4 June is a school development day and students do not attend school. Students will return to school on Tuesday 8 June after the WA Day long weekend.
