Week 6 Update

PP1 Assembly

Well done to our PP students who conducted this weeks assembly. The students did a great job recreating the story of Room on The Broom. The students spoke with confidence and clarity and I was very impressed that they didn’t require notes to remember their lines, well done PP1 and Mrs Corney, it was very entertaining. Well done to our honour certificate winners, see the full list below.

Sports Carnival

The excitement is building for our faction athletics carnival that will be taking place next Friday, with final team selections taking place today. Students will participate in events from 9.30 am and we encourage as many family members as possible to come along and support their child’s faction. Mrs Farmer has certainly put in a lot of effort coaching and encouraging our students and as a school we are looking forward to what is always a great day. Fingers crossed the weather stays fine.

On the day the P&C will be holding a stall selling food and drink items. Parents are asked to donate an item to help raise funds for the P&C. Please follow the link for specific details and information about the raffle that will be drawn on the day.

Fathers Day Stall

With fathers day taking place on Sunday 5 September, students from the Education Support Centre, Black Friday Enterprises, will be holding a Fathers Day Stall on Friday 3 September, for our students to buy items for their dad or special male in their life. There is always a great range of items for sale at very reasonable prices.

Bicycles

Thanks to Mrs Price and the team from Dismantle, we have a number of bikes that we are able to offer to some of our students. The bikes have been repurposed by Dismantle and are free to students that do not have a bike. The bikes are more suited to older students (see photo below) and come with a helmet and bike lock. If you think that your child could use one of these, please contact me through the office to discuss.

ECU - Edith Cowan University

Today we had our first visit from 3rd Year ECU students who are completing their EALD elective. The university students will be working specifically with our IEC students each Friday to gain real life experience working with students as they develop their English language skills. This is a great opportunity for both our IEC students and the university students to develop their teaching skills.

Cheesies

Did you know that every Friday morning students are able to get a free cheesie to start the day? Izzy, our school chaplain makes cheesies for students to get their day off to a great start, the only catch is, you need to arrive at school on time! Cheesies are available every Friday from 8.10 -8.30 am in the school hall.
