Easing of School Based Covid Restrictions

Dear Parents and Carers

As you are aware, the WA Government and Department of Education have announced the latest round of changes to the COVID measures.

As of Friday, 29 April 2022, the following changes will apply:

· The mask mandate for students from Year 3 and above and teaching staff has been removed, although students and staff may continue to wear a mask if they feel comfortable.

· School-based close contacts notifications no longer apply. Schools no longer need to communicate to the wider community if students from a particular class have COVID. However, we ask that parents

still inform the school if their child has COVID so that we can continue to provide support.

· Parents may enter classes, but please consider your child's age and whether there is an opportunity to enhance and support greater independence and organisational skills.

· Choir will be able to recommence.

· Assemblies and other whole school events can now be scheduled throughout the year.

· Year 6 camp will be able to proceed.

· P&C and School Board meetings can take place.

There is also changes to close contacts rules. If a household member has tested positive for Covid, other people in the house will no longer need to quarantine if they are not displaying any symptoms and they conduct a daily RAT test.

As I receive further details from the Education Department I will make these available to the school community.

If you have any questions about the new rules please contact me through the school office.

Kind Regards
