Week 5 Update

Assembly

Our assembly last week was an opportunity for our school choir to showcase their skills. Mrs Davey has done an outstanding job working with the choir and they are certainly sounding harmonious. The students in the choir are to be commended for their ongoing commitment to the group, with choir practice taking place before school on a Thursday morning. On the day the choir and our assembly was also supported by the Guitar Group, again a group of students who are to be commended for their dedication to practising before school. The choir will next be performing at our school awards ceremony in week 10. Congratulations to our Honour Certificate winners who were recognised for their ongoing demonstration of our school values. Please see the full list of students below.

P&C Pyjama Day

On Friday the 18 November the P&C will be holding a Pyjama day. For a gold coin donation students, and teachers can wear their pyjamas to school for the day.

Year 6 Graduation

Reminder to all of our Yr 6 parents, our end of Year Graduation Evening will take place on Tuesday 13 December starting at 6pm. This year we will be holding our graduation evening in the brand new Dianella Secondary College Performing Arts Centre.

Security

During the week, between walking a child into class and back out to the car, one of our families cars was broken into whilst parked in Weewak Crt. Obviously, this was an opportunistic crime, but is a reminder to everyone not to leave valuables visible in parked cars. Fortunately a neighbours CCTV was able to identify the person and it is now a police matter.

Parking

Again we are continuing to have issues with parking. Bus drivers from the Education Support Centre and the IEC are becoming increasingly frustrated when they are unable to get past. I understand that at times parents are waiting for car parks to become available, however, parents need to ensure they are not blocking the road. Alternatives are parking on Osborne Rd or Cobham Ave, waiting for 15 min and then picking up from 3.15 (there is always free spaces at this time) or better still, walk or cycle to school. Unless parents make a concerted effort to change habits we are going to continue to have issues.
