Week 9 Update

Assembly

At last week’s assembly we were entertained by the very talented and confident Kindy B class. They had the whole school singing and dancing and the students did an amazing job of hosting the assembly and speaking in front of a large audience. Well done Mrs Gurner, Mrs Sciano and the Kindy students, it was fantastic to see your confidence on display. Well done to all of our students who were recognised with an honour certificate at our assembly for their continued display of our school values. See the full list of recipients below.

Books In Homes

At the assembly we were also fortunate to hear from local author Sally Murphy, who informed the school about her journey to becoming an author and her passion and love of reading. Sally is an inspiring author who who has written some amazing children’s books (available in our school library) and was also very generous donating her time and some of her books to our school for our school community to enjoy. Sally is involved in the Books in Homes Program and through the generous support of this program and Ausenco mining, we were able to hand out free books to 4 of our classes. The students in Room 1-4, took home 3 books each to enjoy over the holidays. Massive thank you to the Ausenco and the Books in Homes program who continue to support our students through the donation of books. Through their generosity over the last 5 years, we have provided close to 5 000 books to our school community. Thank you very much!

Graduation

Reminder to all of our Yr 6 families, that our graduation event will take place this coming Tuesday, 13 December, from 6pm in the new Dianella Secondary College Performing Arts Centre. The event will take place from 6pm, with all families asked to be seated prior to this time. Due to the seating capacity of the venue and the number of Yr 6 students, we are asking that any families who require more than 5 seats to please let their child’s classroom teacher know. Parking for the event will be available on the tennis courts of Dianella Secondary College, access via Nollamara Avenue. Please see map below.

Presentation Assembly

Our final assembly for the year will take place on Wednesday 14 December, starting at 9am in our school undercover area. The assembly is an opportunity to recognise students who have displayed outstanding academic progress throughout the year. Parents and family members are welcome to attend.

Good Standing Reward

Over the last two days, our students who have achieved our attendance goal of 90% for the term and who have also maintained their Good Standing were rewarded with time on our very own slippery slide. The students had a fantastic time sliding down the hill on a variety of different pool toys. Big thank you to Mrs Gullick and Mrs Goodall for organising and running the activity. The students (and some of the teachers) had a fantastic time!

Reporting to Parents

Reminder to parents that student reports will be available from 3pm today on Connect. Hard copies of reports will be sent home with students on Monday.
